Kid, You'll Move Mountains!

We had so many fun projects to do in the past week.  From spring-colored cake balls as a "Get Well Soon" gift...

to a birthday basket complete with a cupcake pop for the birthday girl...

an assortment of white cake and german chocolate cake balls to celebrate an 85th birthday...

and some amazing gold sparkly stars to celebrate Oscar night.

(and we just have to quote the purchaser of the stars " I did have to tell people they were edible since they thought they were just part of the table decorations! Once they took a bite their eyes widened!".  We LOVE hearing this!)

Some days are just so long and so stressful that the only thing we can even think about is going home, putting on Christmas pajama pants (yes, we know it's the end of February), crawling under a blanket and not coming out until the next day.  Most days, however, it's even more relaxing to come home, pour a glass of wine, turn on the Bachelor (or Housewives...or Modern Family...) and make some fun cake pops.  The finished product never ceases to make us smile. Everyone should try it some time.

This new business venture, which was nothing more than an idea at the beginning of the year, has brought us a ton of happiness (and yes, a few stressful moments too), a new world of creativity and an amazing amount of opportunity.  We can't wait to see what's in store, and in the words of Dr. Suess...

“And will you succeed?
Yes! You will, indeed!
(98 and 3/4 percent guaranteed.)

KID, YOU'LL MOVE MOUNTAINS!"

Happy Thursday :) xoxo

Lessons in Shipping

When we started Parties With a Pop, the thought of shipping cake pops was so overwhelming that we decided to just stick to local orders. After about three days of our site being live, we realized we needed to figure out shipping...and quickly. We had orders pouring in from Florida, Chicago, Nebraska, New York - how could we say no? After a few experimental shipments, a LOT of bubble wrap, and a few silent prayers, we decided to take on long-distance orders.

This past week really gave us a lesson in shipping do's and dont's  DO use as much bubble wrap and tissue paper that can possibly fit in the box. DON'T go to the post office on President's Day and expect it to be open. DO ship with an estimated delivery date that ensures the pops will be there in time, with two days to spare. DON'T trust that "estimated delivery date."

Oh. My. Goodness. We both aged 17 years and were on the brink of giving up when the nasty storms from last week delayed two huge shipments for parties this past Saturday.

If those cute Curious George's and the 100 beautiful black and fuschia pops were missing, life was sure to be over. Saturday morning was spent on the phone with post offices in Nebraska and Illinois, and by some sweet, lovely miracle, both shipments arrived - in perfect condition- for the parties that day. Giant business catastrophe #1 avoided. We are SO glad that our shipments made it on time, and we hope the first birthday party and the anniversary party were just perfect.

Love Orders!

Since the launch of our Web site and Facebook page, we have been overwhelmed with love, support and orders! We are so excited, and so blessed to be on this awesome adventure.

Last weekend we made a beautiful bouquet of pops for a dear friend who is expecting her second baby. We kept it simple with sweet onesies and pops decorated with sugar sprinkles and bottles. We are so excited to meet baby boy Butler, and we hope everyone at the shower enjoyed dessert.

It has been a busy week at Parties With a Pop as we prepare for Valentine's Day. We were so excited to get so many orders for the upcoming holiday, and we can't lie - we ate one or two heart shaped cake balls in the process ;). We had a variety of orders coming in, ranging from strawberry cake hearts with pink chocolate coating, to chocolate cake pops dipped in mint chocolate. A change from the typical box of chocolates, these gifts are sure to bring a smile to lots of face this week. We can't wait to hear the reviews! Happy Monday!

Make-A-Wish!

Ashley was recently touched by the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and decided to do something to help raise money for such a wonderful cause. Last Sunday, she hosted a fantastic party and silent auction, with all proceeds going to the charity. Auction items ranged from a round of golf to babysitting services, sweet hand-made cards and clothes to a happy hour with Austin’s cutest golden retriever (which I was determined to, and did, win). We even raffled off a few dozen cake pops to one lucky recipient! It was a great event for an even better cause, and of course we wanted to make some great pops to mark the event. These sparkly stars were a hit, and we couldn’t think of a better reason to make them. If you’re interested in Make-A-Wish and how you can help, visit the site here: http://www.wish.org
