Baby Platt is on the Way!

We had a great time creating some beautiful cake pops for our sweet friend and the little baby boy in her belly.  The hostesses of the party requested red velvet pops (the mama's favorite) in the colors of the nursery (lime green and navy).  The décor of the shower was so beautiful, and the cake pops fit in perfectly.  We can't wait to meet Baby P!!!!

A Pop for Every Occasion!

Time goes by so quickly!  Almost a whole month without a blog post...we have some catching up to do!  We have been busy with lots of fun orders, and here are some of our favorites.

One of our favorite new creations were the pirate pops we made for a pirates and princesses party.  They were delicious, and fit into the themed party perfectly!  We heard rave reviews from little MC at her 2nd birthday party :)

Next up was an order of Hello Kitty pops for another birthday party.  We wrapped these and finished them off with a hot pink bow, and off to Houston they went!

I received an email from an old co-worker asking if we could create some house cake pops for a welcome gift on the day of her client's closing.  We were so excited at the opportunity, and we just love how they turned out!

Then we had Easter, and loved all of our orders that came in for eggs, bunnies, chicks and pigs.  We shipped orders all around the country, and we're hoping they brought lots of smiles on Easter morning!

Stay tuned for more fun creations that we have been busy working on.  Have a great week!!

Showering TJ with Love and Pops

This past weekend was the baby shower for one of the sweetest mommy’s-to-be around.  E and her husband are expecting their first baby, a little boy named TJ, in just a few short weeks.  His celebration colors were orange and light blue (close enough to Florida colors for me…Go Gators!), and he was certainly showered with a LOT of love, gifts…and cake pops!

We were asked if we could provide the party favors, and after much brainstorming (Baby blocks? Onesies? Bottle pops?), we decided what cuter way to say thank you to the guests than cake pops in the shape of his name.  The T’s were made of chocolate cake and the J’s were the mom’s favorite – Funfetti!  We had some wonderful reviews and saw a lot of smiling faces, so we will assume they were a hit :).

Congratulations E!!!  Can’t wait to meet that sweet little guy!

Toga Parties and Princesses

We're starting to get into a routine on Saturday mornings:
Step 1: Starbucks.
Step 2: Last minute supply shopping.
Step 3: Plan out our baking for the day.
Step 4: Make more coffee. Make a million cake pops.
Step 5: Sit back in amazement at how productive we've been!

We had a great time making three different orders for this weekend.  First up was a princess pop display for one of the sweetest two-year-olds in the world!  Her strawberry and chocolate cake pops were a hit at her princess-themed party.  Happy birthday, Kaylee!

Our next project is something we are SO excited about.  We have had a couple of requests from company representatives asking if we could make promotional cake pops with logos on them for marketing reasons.  Mission: Accomplished!  These logos, made of sugar paper and edible ink, are the perfect addition to our product line!

Our last project of the morning was a gift from us to two 30-year-olds who LOVE cake pops.  Our friends celebrated their joint 30th birthdays in style...toga style!  We thought some leaf-themed cake pops would look great on the dessert table.  We had a fantastic night in our togas.  Happy birthday, Brian and Katie!

Kid, You'll Move Mountains!

We had so many fun projects to do in the past week.  From spring-colored cake balls as a "Get Well Soon" gift...

to a birthday basket complete with a cupcake pop for the birthday girl...

an assortment of white cake and german chocolate cake balls to celebrate an 85th birthday...

and some amazing gold sparkly stars to celebrate Oscar night.

(and we just have to quote the purchaser of the stars " I did have to tell people they were edible since they thought they were just part of the table decorations! Once they took a bite their eyes widened!".  We LOVE hearing this!)

Some days are just so long and so stressful that the only thing we can even think about is going home, putting on Christmas pajama pants (yes, we know it's the end of February), crawling under a blanket and not coming out until the next day.  Most days, however, it's even more relaxing to come home, pour a glass of wine, turn on the Bachelor (or Housewives...or Modern Family...) and make some fun cake pops.  The finished product never ceases to make us smile. Everyone should try it some time.

This new business venture, which was nothing more than an idea at the beginning of the year, has brought us a ton of happiness (and yes, a few stressful moments too), a new world of creativity and an amazing amount of opportunity.  We can't wait to see what's in store, and in the words of Dr. Suess...

“And will you succeed?
Yes! You will, indeed!
(98 and 3/4 percent guaranteed.)

KID, YOU'LL MOVE MOUNTAINS!"

Happy Thursday :) xoxo

Lessons in Shipping

When we started Parties With a Pop, the thought of shipping cake pops was so overwhelming that we decided to just stick to local orders. After about three days of our site being live, we realized we needed to figure out shipping...and quickly. We had orders pouring in from Florida, Chicago, Nebraska, New York - how could we say no? After a few experimental shipments, a LOT of bubble wrap, and a few silent prayers, we decided to take on long-distance orders.

This past week really gave us a lesson in shipping do's and dont's  DO use as much bubble wrap and tissue paper that can possibly fit in the box. DON'T go to the post office on President's Day and expect it to be open. DO ship with an estimated delivery date that ensures the pops will be there in time, with two days to spare. DON'T trust that "estimated delivery date."

Oh. My. Goodness. We both aged 17 years and were on the brink of giving up when the nasty storms from last week delayed two huge shipments for parties this past Saturday.

If those cute Curious George's and the 100 beautiful black and fuschia pops were missing, life was sure to be over. Saturday morning was spent on the phone with post offices in Nebraska and Illinois, and by some sweet, lovely miracle, both shipments arrived - in perfect condition- for the parties that day. Giant business catastrophe #1 avoided. We are SO glad that our shipments made it on time, and we hope the first birthday party and the anniversary party were just perfect.
